Family Work Weekend

Last weekend I got to go over to Vancouver Island for “Family Work Weekend” at Camp Qwanoes. Having gone last year, I was pretty excited for the trip, and the weekend did not disappoint! We had a great weekend of fellowship, fun, work and laughter. Not to mention getting to spend the majority of the weekend outside, enjoying the beauty of the island! My camera recently broke, so I wasn’t able to take any photos but, luckily for me, two of the girls that went with us took more than enough to make up! Here are a few of my favorites:

the girls and i were part of a team that stained the outside of a new washroom that is being built. i did the same thing last year and our group got to use those washrooms this year!

the camp is located on the shore of the island and you can see water from most places. it is so unbelievably gorgeous! i was in awe most of the weekend of the creativity of our God!

i was a little sleepy sunday morning and had a little nap after breakfast. haha!

hello? anyone still there? *tap* *tap* is this thing on?

it’s been a ridiculously long time since i’ve blogged anything and i would offer an excuse and promise to update more frequently, but the sad truth is, i probably won’t. life is good. busy. but good. the past few months have been full of friends, family, a boyfriend, olympics, finishing a round of ULI, starting with another group, moving (to the apartment next door) and lots more.

i’m going to do my best to post some pics by event/category (ie – olympics, visit from laura, etc) but probably won’t put captions on many of them. i’ll also do my best to get them in chronological order. be forewarned – this will be a looooooooong post!

January:

late-night-all-you-can-eat-sushi after church, class pictures, bowling with ULI friends, church retreat to bowen island and hanging out after church.

February:

olympics, olympics and more olympics! first, the torch relay, then the dress rehearsal for the opening ceremony (no cameras allowed, just a pic of me on my way out the door!), BC place, the torch, a day trip to bowen island, visit from dad, two trips to Grouse mountain for the Today Show, a visit from my friend Dawn, Valentine’s Day tulips, lots of famous people on the today show and watching the gold medal hockey game with a bunch of candians!

March:

a visit from Laura, stanley park, granville island, the paralympics opening ceremony and curling match, IKEA, enormous gelatto shop,

April:

dyeing easter eggs with Jeanie, easter festival at church, and cherry blossoms.

May:

church picnic, granville island with laura and candice.

just as promised (months and months ago!), i’m back with the rest of my Project 365 pictures! here is september at a glance (minus Sept. 13-16. those pics are on my other computer still, in vancouver). i’ll try to eventually come back and add some captions, as some of the pics are incredibly random, but no more promises!

the crazier life gets, the less time there is to blog and the more there is to blog about!

hello all! once again, i’m sorry it’s been so long since i’ve updated. life has been crazy, but great the past few months and somehow blogging about it all has fallen completely off my radar screen! i will update with Project 365 pics soon, but for now, i’ll just give you a brief update:

my sisters were here for a week to explore vancouver and celebrate Thanksgiving with me. we packed as much as we possibly could into a week and had an absolute blast. i hadn’t seen either of them since the beginning of this year, so it was great to be reunited! i’m already looking forward to my trip to Ohio in a few weeks. it will be so good to have our family all together for a bit!

our second group of ULI participants are doing well. this round has not been without its hiccups, but it has been really good. i’ve enjoyed getting to know our TCKs and their parents, and i am constantly reminded of how blessed i am to work with the ULI team and be a part of all of this. God is so good.

i was recently invited to an imb retreat in Istanbul this spring. having never traveled outside of the americas, i am really excited! i don’t know many details yet, but will try to remember to keep you posted.

i know it’s been forever since i last blogged and that i owe you all a serious catch-up post, and i promise it’s coming sometime in the next few weeks, but first, i just had to tell you some exciting news. as some of you know, one of my best friends ever, mrs. adrian hitt, is a fantastically (is that even a word? wordpress says it is) talented dog and child photographer in nashville, tn. several months ago she had the opportunity to photograph Emmylou Harris and her photos were recently published in an edition of people magazine’s country special! HERE is the link to her blog post with the photos. i am so very excited for her and so proud to call her my friend! way to go adrian!

yikes. somehow time REALLY got away from me this summer. sorry it’s taken me so long to finally update. i lost my camera battery charger, so that’s complicated things a bit as well. i’ve had to resort to using photobooth on my computer, so it’s mainly been self portraits for a couple weeks now. oh well. better than nothing, right? i’m working on getting a new charger…. anyway, here’s the last 2 1/2 months at a glance!

hello blog world. i know it’s been a ridiculously long time since i’ve updated, but it has been a busy month or so! i’m still taking a picture every day but haven’t had the time to upload and post them just yet. my mom’s coming in tonight and will be here until the end of the month, so look for a REALLY long update sometime at the beginning of august. hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the summer!
